Arsenal Acquire Euro Football 2024 Victor Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad
Arsenal finalized the signing of Euro 2024 champion Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad on Tuesday. The Spanish midfielder is expected to cost the Gunners an initial 32 million euros ($36 million, £27 million), with an additional five million euros in potential add-ons.
**”He has consistently competed at the highest levels in both club and international football for several seasons.
“Mikel will greatly enhance our squad with his technical skills, along with his strong, positive character and personality.”
Merino scored the decisive goal in Spain’s thrilling Euros quarter-final victory against hosts Germany.
A 28-year-old boy has played out his past six years with Real Sociedad but brings English football.
Merino worked from 2017 to 2018 with Newcastle but after returning to Spain, it was difficult for him to give an impact performance.
Arsenal signed his second contract with Italian international defender Riccardo Calafiori.
The loan of Goalkeeper David Raya was also converted into a permanent transfer by Brentford.
Mikel was our first fit player for this session, we saw an impact in that player, and we think that he was very capable for our squad and our expectation is some impactful performances.
